Ewe #24008 Sire Stack: Timberline x Scout x May
This one is out of an 11 year old ewe… one of four, 11 year-old Scout daughters that weaned robust lambs this year and all four of them were free of any udder trouble. A maternal sister to this ewe lamb produced the big, burly ram #24033 in this year’s sale.
Ewe #24013 Sire Stack: Cinder Block x Timberline x Tahoe
This long, bold, smooth, level-topped ewe lamb represents the Cinder Block sire group well. They seem to have a little extra in the hind saddle, with good heads, big feet and calm, alert dispositions. This ewe is a granddaughter of the 6055 ewe that lambed 3 times in less than 14 months with ewe lamb 24168 in this sale being her latest addition.
Ewe #24016 Sire Stack: Tuba x Timberline x Tahoe
This is an extra long Tuba daughter. Her mother is a triplet sister to the dam of 24013. And they are out of the 6055 ewe that lambed 3 times in less than 14 months.
Ewe #24024 Sire Stack: Cinder Block x Arnold x Scout
This triplet Cinder Block ewe is from a very prolific ewe family. Her mother has had triplets twice and her mother’s twin sister has had 3 sets of triplets and a set of quads.
Ewe #24029 Sire Stack: Tuba x Timberline x Scout
This is the highest scanning ewe in the group and twin to 24030. They are out of the 3008 ewe family noted for early maturity, prolificacy, and longevity. A maternal brother was selected out of our sale last year by Scott Greiner for Virginia Tech. This one is really thick along the top from front to back.
Ewe #24030 Sire Stack: Tuba x Timberline x Scout
Twin to 24029…
Ewe #24032 Sire Stack: Cast Iron x Stonewall x Scout
This is perhaps the stoutest ewe in the group… really thick topped, big boned, and heavily muscled. Her twin brother, 24031, sells in the sale and her maternal brothers in last year’s sale included the high scanning ram that sold to Josh Cruz of Connecticut and the other selected by Miles Gibbs of Texas.
Ewe #24042 Sire Stack: Timberline x Doc x May
This long Timberline daughter is from the same ewe family that gave us the 24031 ram and 24032 ewe, both in this sale and also the high scanning ram in last year’s sale.
Ewe #24048 Sire Stack: Timberline x Timberline x Tahoe
This one has an extra shot of Timberline in the pedigree. She also goes back to a Meadows 5211 daughter that I purchased from Bob Kimm in 2013.
Ewe #24050 Sire Stack: Tuba x Stonewall x Tahoe
This robust Tuba daughter is from the same ewe family that gave us Cast Iron.
Ewe #24052 Sire Stack: Hickory x Tahoe x Scout
This Hickory daughter and 24102 are the last Hickory daughters we will sell. He gave us 8 lamb crops and then we lost him this spring. Hickory gave us heavy-duty lambs that grew well and scanned well. The Hickory daughters have crossed really well with Tuba. Both Cinder Block and Magnitude are Tuba sons out of Hickory daughters or granddaughters.
Ewe #24054 Sire Stack: Tuba x Scout x May
A thick Tuba daughter with a strong pedigree for maternal traits and longevity. Her mother is a full sister to 3036.
Ewe #24058 Sire Stack: Cinder Block x Tahoe x Lincoln
This very robust ewe lamb is a triplet sister to the thick, complete ram, 24057, that sells in our sale.
Ewe #24063 Sire Stack: Timberline x Hickory x Arnold
This ewe lamb was raised as a triplet. She also posted a strong LEA scan.
Ewe #24081 Sire Stack: Timberline x Tahoe x Hickory
This long, smooth, stylish Timberline daughter had one of the top growth rates of this group of ewe lambs. We have been accumulating lots of Timberline daughters in our flock because we like the additional muscling and reliable maternal traits they exhibit.
Ewe #24082 Sire Stack: Cast Iron x Timberline x Hickory
If this ewe lamb turns out like her mother, she will be a thick topped, wide hipped, easy keeping brood ewe.
Ewe #24086 Sire Stack: Timberline x Lumberjack x Doc
This Timberline daughter has a shot of MacCauley breeding behind her in Lumberjack as her grandsire. Lumberjack was a ram I co-owned with Joe Emenheiser for a while that was selected for his strong performance at the Pennsylvania Ram Test.
Ewe #24088 Sire Stack: Cinder Block x Stonewall x Tahoe
This eye-catching Cinder Block daughter is notable for her thick top and strong muscle shape. Her twin brother, 24087, sells in our sale. The sire stack behind this ewe is hard to beat for the kind of sheep we like to raise. I highly recommend this ewe lamb as a brood ewe!
Ewe #24092 Sire Stack: Timberline x Hickory x Scout
This fast-growing Timberline daughter is part of the 3008 ewe family. 3008 raised a strong set of twins at 11 years of age this spring that included the ram 24020 that sells in our sale.
Ewe #24093 Sire Stack: Cast Iron x Hickory x Cool Deal
This thick ewe lamb and her thick twin sister, 24094, have been a fun pair to watch from the very start. They are out of a productive ewe that traces back to the Auville flock (good friends of ours just down The Valley…) and the Cool Deal ram they used from McLaughlin/Griffin Suffolks of Colorado.
Ewe #24094 Sire Stack: Cast Iron x Hickory X Cool Deal
Twin to 24093…
Ewe #24098 Sire Stack: Cinder Block x Stonewall x Doc
This ewe is a prime example of the extremely uniform set of lambs we got out of Cinder Block. We currently have Cinder Block with 42 ewes and will soon be adding a few replacement ewe lambs to his breeding pasture as well to try to duplicate the lamb crop we got out of him in 2024. Stonewall and Doc in the pedigree behind this ewe were both sons of the Kimm 4081 ewe that was extremely productive through 14 years of age.
Ewe #24102 Sire Stack: Hickory x Arnold x Scout
The dam of this ewe has had 3 sets of triplets and a set of quads. There is a shot of extra muscle in the pedigree with the Arnold ram (Mint Gold 3007) that we leased from Virginia Tech.
Ewe #24105 Sire Stack: Cast Iron x Hickory x Tahoe
This is a triplet sister to the high-scanning ram in our sale, 24104. Their other triplet brother sold well through the VA Ram Test Sale. Their mother is a big, calm Hickory daughter that raised these triplets with ease.
Ewe #24112 Sire Stack: Cinder Block x Timberline x Hickory
This is one of our favorite ewes in the sale and one of the hardest to let go. She is a good example of the Cinder Block sire group… being long and level with excellent muscle shape, a bold Suffolk head, good feet and legs, and tied all together in a smooth, complete package.
Ewe #24117 Sire Stack: Timberline x Lumberjack x Scout
This stylish and fast-growing daughter of Timberline goes back to the MacCauley “Lumberjack” ram that I mentioned in the description of 24086 above. The dam of this ewe is a wide, girthy brood ewe.
Ewe #24121 Sire Stack: Cast Iron x Tahoe x Cool Deal
This ewe is a maternal sister to the “Shenandoah” ram that Bill Zwyers purchased from us in 2021.
Ewe #24123 Sire Stack: Tuba x Hickory x Scout
The Tuba x Hickory combination in the pedigree of this ewe is one that has worked particularly well for us with Cinder Block being another example of this same sire stack. This ewe is a granddaughter of our 3036 ewe who is thriving at 11 years of age.
Ewe #24126 Sire Stack: Cast Iron x Hickory x Tahoe
This is a twin to 24127. They are out of the 3036 ewe family that gets mentioned a lot for maternal traits and longevity. The dam (0022) of this ewe is a twin sister to the dam (0021) of the ewe Joe Emenheiser selected last year and the 24067 ram in this year’s sale. I wrote a short essay for the 2021 Suffolk Directory about 5 ewe lambs coming up through the percentage program that included 0021 and 0022 and some interesting history behind them.
Ewe #24127 Sire Stack: Cast Iron x Hickory x Tahoe
Twin to 24126…
Ewe #24128 Sire Stack: Cast Iron x George x Tahoe
The grandmother of this ewe (5032) is the dam of this year’s lot 1 ram #24040.
Ewe #24131 Sire Stack: Cast Iron x Hickory x Scout
Triplet sister to 24132 and 24133. It would be neat to see these triplets all end up at the same farm for someone looking to add a uniform set of females, but wherever they end up, I’m sure they will be a solid addition.
Ewe #24132 Sire Stack: Cast Iron x Hickory x Scout
Triplet sister to 24131 and 24133.
Ewe #24133 Sire Stack: Cast Iron x Hickory x Scout
Triplet sister to 24131 and 24132.
Ewe #24138 Sire Stack: Cinder Block x Upside x Scout
These Cinder Block daughters are hard to let go… This one is out of the 3036 ewe family… tops for maternal traits and longevity.
Ewe #24152 Sire Stack: Tuba x Upside x Arlo
This fast-growing young ewe lamb has an intriguing pedigree… Emenheiser, Batt, Slack, Mint Gold, Kimm, MacCauley, Virginia Tech…
Ewe #24157 Sire Stack: Tuba x Timberline x Stonewall
This young Tuba daughter is a full sister to Cast Iron!
Ewe #24168 Sire Stack: Cast Iron x Tahoe x May
I really like this young ewe, and I think she has great potential as a brood ewe. Her mother was notable for having twins mid January last year (a ewe lamb was sold through our sale) and then coming in heat right away a few weeks into her lactation, (that’s what we get for letting old Hickory hang out in the lambing barn) lambing again in late July with twins and then lambing again with this ewe lamb in March… lambing 3 times in less than 14 months!
Ewe #24169 Sire Stack: Timberline x Upside x Hickory
This young purebred Timberline daughter posted the highest rate of gain out of these sale ewes. She is smooth, scanned well, and has excellent muscle shape.
Ewe #24194 Sire Stack: Cinder Block x Sycamore x Scout
This youngest ewe in the sale has a very strong pedigree for production, maternal traits and longevity. She is out of a yearling ewe that was sired by Sycamore who has 3 ewes in his pedigree that were productive at 11 years or older. She posted one of the best rates of gain.
